Jennie Kim, also known by her stage name Jennie, is a South Korean singer and rapper. She is best known as a member of the popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, which debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment. In November 2018, she made her debut as a solo artist with the song “Solo”. Jennie Kim Biography
Jennie was born in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea on January 16, 1996. She is the only child of her parents. Jennie attended Cheongdam Elementary School in Seoul before moving to New Zealand.
She began her career as a trainee under YG Entertainment in 2010 and made her debut as a member of BLACKPINK four years later. The group quickly gained popularity in South Korea and internationally, and has since released several hit songs and albums, including “Whistle,” “Boombayah,” “As If It’s Your Last,” “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” and “Kill This Love.”
In addition to her work with BLACKPINK, Jennie has also released solo music. In 2018, she released her debut solo single, “Solo,” which topped the charts in South Korea and reached the top 10 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. The song was a huge hit and it was the first solo single by a female K-pop artist to reach number one on the Gaon Digital Chart, and also become certified platinum by the Korean Music Content Association (KMCA).
Jennie is also known for her style and fashion sense and has been featured in several fashion campaigns and magazines. She started reading fashion magazines when she was a child and so had an interest in them. Jennie also developed an interest in fashion through her mother’s influence.
In 2023, she will be making her acting debut in the HBO series The Idol, under the stage name Jennie Ruby Jane.

Jennie was born in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea to Mr Kim and Mrs Kim. Her parents’ name is not known publicly. Jennie’s father allegedly owns a hospital while her mother is also a director of a South Korean entertainment company – CJ E&M.
