Melanie Martin, Aaron Carter’s on-and-off fiancée, has regained full custody of her 1-year-old son, Prince, following the singer’s passing.

According to a representative of Melanie Martin, 30, the court ruling for Prince’s custody was made after a hearing on Thursday, December 15, in Los Angeles.

At the time of the decision, Martin was in New York and was informed by her legal team about the news.

Her representative mentioned that Martin is currently on her way to California to reunite with her son and is “extremely happy and eager” to see him.

After the loss of custody, Prince had been under the care of Martin’s mother due to reported concerns about drug abuse and domestic violence involving the former couple.

“I’m honoring Aaron today and I know he would be so proud of me,” Martin expressed to TMZ. “I’m very emotional thinking we could have been a family, but Aaron would be so happy knowing I got him back.”

Jane Carter, the former child star’s mother, expressed her satisfaction with the court’s decision to return custody of Prince to Martin.

“The child should be with the mother,” she stated.

The singer passed away at 34 years old on November 5.

Following Aaron’s tragic death in his bathtub, Jane requested her daughter Angel – Aaron’s twin – to file a petition to serve as the administrator of his estate.

Despite the absence of a will, Aaron’s personal property and real estate portfolio, reportedly worth around half a million dollars, would likely be inherited by his son in accordance with California laws.
